As the owner of the Alte Villa Guesthouse in Luderitz, Namibia, my husband and I became empty nesters in February 2017 when both of our sons left home. We were excited to embark on a new adventure and become the owners of the guesthouse. Our love for the old house and connection to Luderitz led us to restore the building, which was built in 1909 in the Jugend style. We personally decorated each room in the guesthouse, ensuring that each one tells a story of Luderitz’s rich history.

We offer a variety of activities at the guesthouse, including wine tasting, intimate dinners prepared by our in-house chef, and an after-dinner drink in our Gin & Whiskey lounge. We also provide daily servings of fresh apple cake (my mom’s recipe) and cream for an afternoon coffee, and we add personal touches such as a small chocolate on the pillow and a hot water bottle on cold nights to ensure our guests have a comfortable stay.
